[by telegraph.] Mr. Binney reports business steady and up to the average, although the flour market still continues in an unsatisfactory state, little disposition being shown to purchase. Reports from foreign markets show a drooping tendency, whilst our own is decidedly overstocked. The leading brands show no alteration in price at Lll to Lll 10s ; but large quantities of outside brands are offering at LlO. In effect the wheat is dull at 4s 6d ; light oats are selling at 4s 6d to 4s 9d ; heavy, at ss; maize is scarce, good samples are worth 4s Od ; oatmeal and pearl barley ahow no alteration ; butter Is ; cheese, 7*d ; hams and bacon, 7d to "Ad ; ditto, in cloth, 8d to B}d ; potatoes are easier—Canterbury's come forward plentifully ; our local farmers are now forwarding more than latterly ; the price I received is L 4 10s L 5.
