ANOTHER FATAL ACCIDENT.
| Tht'oagh the courtesy of the police we | are placeci hi possession of the following information .—JJJU-. .Jai>iec Gemmell, of I Kakanui, reported to -day ifc&t, when coining from Mali en o to Oamaru, he .discovered on the road near Totara the body of one of Mr. Meek's carters quite dead. There were two drays loaded with grain on the side of the road, and the horses had 'be.si: taken out of the drays. A mounted ccnitable was at once dispatched to make inquiries ir t lo the matter. Since writing the above we have been supplied with the following furthei' particulars : Deceased, whose name is started with a companion from Mi 1 . W. Meek's farm, Teaneraki, for Oamaru thic •norning. They were each driving a dray eouuii;.-i.:!g grain. Deceased somehow, unknown to his companion, fell off the dray, and the wheel of ( hiss dxny went over him. fir. Garland was on the sput diorfcly after the accident, but his death had besn instantaneous. There will be an inqueai at the Northern. Hotel to-morrow at 10 o'clock.
