DISTRICT COURT.

THIS DAY. (Before His Honor District Ward.) , . ■■_ IN:B ANKRCPTGY. \ ■">. s /ra re Andrew Costelle. —In this case, Mr. O'Meagher applied for an order for the final ■discharge of the bankrupt, which was granted. In re Stephen Joseph Bradbury.—ln this ■case the bankrupt appeared in person to apply for his discharge. Mr O'Meagher appeared to oppose the application on behalf of certain creditors. The debtor was placed in the box and examined at some length by Mr. O'Meagher as to the manner in which he had disposed of certain property. The bankrupt stated that he had formerly been a contractor in Oamaru. He had sold three horses for close upon L9O, and left for the West Coatst, leaving behind him several creditors for various amounts. The majority of the creditors on his schedule were creditors at the time he left Oamaru. He did not pay any of them any money out of the proceeds of the sale of hoi-ses, but had paid his men with a portion of the money. He had also sold t%vo tip drays for Ll4, besides some picks and shovels. He had not paid anything on account to any of his creditors before going to the West Coast. He had not promised, since his return to pay Mr. Henderson, one of his creditors, at the rate of LI a-week ; nor had he since told him that he would sooner go to "chokey" than pay any more of his creditors. He had not been in treaty for the purchase of land within the last twelve months. He had not offered to purchase a seotion from Mr. Hood, nor had he suggested to that gentleman to have the deeds made out in his wife's name. He had not been in treaty for the purchase of a Municipal section, but had arranged for alease of it. He had taken LSO to the West Coast with him.

John Hood deposed that the bankrupt had some few months ago spoken to him with reference to the purchase of a section on behalf of his wife. No price had been mentioned.

David Henderson stated that bankrupt: had promised to pay him at the rate of LI a-wcek, but that when he afterwards called upon him about the matter, bankrupt said he would rather go to " ehokey " than pay any more money." Mr. O'Meagher pointed out that liad the bankrupt attempted to pay his creditors before leaving for the West Coast he could easily have cleared himself, aa he had shown that he took LSO away with him. His Honor remarked that it was very evident that the bankrupt was averse to paying his creditors. His certificate would be suspended for six months. In re Hugh Mark.—Mr. Newton applied for an order for the bankrupt's discharge. Messrs. O'Meagher and Balmer appeared on behalf of certain creditors to ojjpose the application. The bankrupt was examined at some length by Mr. Balmer- as to the disposal of his money and stock. The bankrupt attributed his bankruptcy to the fact of Messrs. Neill and Boyd having taken possession under a bill of sale, which he was under the impression had been satisfied. Mr. O'Meagher said that the statements of the bankrupt wove unsatisfactory, and he submitted that the bankrupt was not entitled to his discharge. Mr. Newton urged that the bankrupt was fully entitled to his discharge, and argued at some length that nothing had been urged or proved against the bankrupt. His Honor said the bankrupt had not carried on his business in a very satisfactory manner, and suspended his certificate for six months.

In re George Ainslie.—ln this ease Mr. Balmer applied for and obtained an order calling upon the Trustee to pay costs out of the bankrupt's estates.
