The race for the St. Leger took place to-day, and resulted as follows: —Jeanette, 1 ; Cliilderick, 2 ; Master Kildare, 3. The following are the scores of the Gentlemen's first innings : —Ridley, 23 ; Webb, 13 ; Hornby, 0 ; Forbes, 0 ; Haddow, 4 (all bowled by Spofforth) ; Steel, off Spofforth, 3 ; Pearson, 6 ; Evans, 0, bowled Garrett ; Appleby, not out, 0 ; sundries, 8. Australians' second innings: A. Bannerman, 2 ; 0. Bannerman, 54 ; Horan, 60; Spofforth, IS ; Murdoch, 49; Garrett, 3 ; Bailey, 40 ; Boyle, 9 ; Blackham, not out, 13; Allan, not out, 1 ; sundries, 2f. September 12. A fearful colliery accident has occurred at Kedow Vale. Three hundred were killed, and 80 rescued. Fourteen horses ran for the St. Leger, which was won by four lengths. The seat of the Duke of Abercorn, in South Wales, was. damaged by fire. „ All officers and men absent on:leave have been recalled as a precautionary measure.
