RAILWAY STATION SITE.

The following letter received by the Mayor has been handed to us for publication :

Commissioner of Railways' Office, Christchurch, Sept. 10, 1878. Sir, —I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the sth inst., transmitting 1 a copy of a resolution passed at a public meeting' held in Oamaru, on the 3rd, on the subject of the proposed site for a new railway station. I am to acquaint you in reply, that the Government has not, up to the present time, taken any action in the matter ; but as soon as it has done so, I shall lose no time in advising you of the course to be adopted.
