At the City Police Court to-day Cameron was committed for trial for perjury, Captain Baldwin to-day purchased 10 acres in the North-east Valley for L 4225, and an adjoining 10 acres for L 5500. The programme of the March meeting is similar to those of previous years. The Ladies' Purse is substituted for the Newmarket Stakes ; the Cup is preceded by the Maiden ; and the Champagne Derby precedes the J. C. Handicap. Dagg accepts the challenge of Thomas, of Eaalehawk, if the latter will come to Dunedin in November. A four-roomed cottage at Caversham was burnt to the ground on Saturday night. The insurances were Ll5O in the National. The circumstances were suspicious.
