Sailed : Martha Reid, for Oamaru. Lyttelton, Sept. 2. Arrived: The Palala and Lutterworth from London. The Palala left London on May 21. She is a handsome new iron barque, consigned to New Zealand Shipping Cornnan v The Lutterworth is chartered by Shaw, Saville, and Co. She brings 18 pasBongers and a full cargo. She left Gravesend on May 15, and had heavy weather. In running down her easting on August lb, during a heavy south-west gale, a sea broke on board and smashed tho wheel and binnacle, broke tho second officer's leg, carried away one of tho boats, and did other damage. When the vossol was coming to windward, the ship being hovo-to, tho uppor main topsail yard waa carried away, and two topsails, mainsails, foresail, main-topmast, and staysail, wero split to ribbonß. The barque had to lay-to for lfi hours to repair tho damage. Cleared : Tho barquo Columbus, chartered by tho N.Z.S.Co., for Loudon, with a cargo of wool, wheat, tallow, moats, and gold, valued at L 47,500.
