JAMES GARDINER, 304 Secretary. WAITAKI SHEEP DOG TRIAL. ATRIAL of SHEEP DOGS will be held a* DUNTROON, on WEDNESDAY, 2xi> OCTOBER, 187S, commencing at 10 o'clock a.m. precisely. Intending Competitors must send in their Entries to the Secretary, Mr. E. C. Smith. Duntroon. not later than 25thSEPTRMBER, IS7S, accompanied with Entrance Fee as also coi.ori!, najie, and ace of Dog entered. Places will be drawn for. There will be two (2) Classes—one for Dogs of any age, and one for Dogs aged 18 months and under. There will be First", Second, and Third Prizes awarded for each Class. Four sheep will be allowed for each com pctitor. Six hurdles to form a pen, the gate to ac* Any Competitor when working his Doir must remain within (50) fifty yards of the pen. In the Trial for aged Dogs, no Dog will be allowed to start before the Bheep arc (i) half a mile from the pen ; (20) twenty minutes will be allowed for yarding from the time of start. In the Trial for Young Dogs, no Dog will be ullowed to sta; t, the sheep are (500) five hundred v;ird s \\ ; ui the pen ; time and sheep same ah tw ->ki Dogs. Prizes will be awarded according to points in each Class—viz., 5 points for the best heading; 3 points for the Dog which brings the sheep back best ; 2 points for the Dog which yards the sheep best; 2 points for the Dog best under command.
