WEEKLY GRAIN ItEFORT. Eves is u Ma it. Office, Monday Afternoon. We have to report continued dulnesa in wheat ; any transactions in this cereal being of the most limited description. Pricesi are merely nominal, and it would he difficult to say at what figure actual business might be done. Oats are still in good demand, and are readily saleable at quotations. Barley is in fair requests, but there is little or none ottering, 'there is keen enquiry for potatoes, •which are likely to advance in price. Quotations are as follows :- Wheat .(nominally), 3b lOd for first-class : oats (nulling), 3a «W ; fe«d, 3sßd; barley (malting), sa; potatoes, L 5 10s. ♦ • CANTERBURY CORN MARKET. Messrs. ft. MataonandCo. report on the 'Jtat auction of grain and produce, held by them on Saturday, August 3, under the auspices of the Canterbury Corn Exchange. The wheat market is still very heavy; there seems no prospect of improvement, and rates have a (strong downward tendency. Milling feed and seed oats are in fair _ request. Malting barley is very much inquired for. There are no first samples in the market. Grasa seeds are in strong demand. Kye srrass is short, tor which very extreme rates have been paid. The demand for potatoes for seed purposes has set in, and from the price realised at our auction sale to-day, very high rates will be paid before the planting season is over. Of 4t> lots, 17 were sold. Wheat. —We i piote milling wheat nominal. There are sellers at 4s to 4s 2d rer bushel. Seed wheat is saleable at 4s 2d to 4s 6"d per bushel. T ... Malting Barley. - Really first-class malting barley would fetch within a shade of to per bushel. Medium, according to condition, from 4s 3d to 3s 3d per bushel Oats —Feed oats are saleable at 3s 9d to 3s lid per bushel Milling at 4s Id to 4s 3d per bushel. Seed at 4s 2d to 4s tfd per bushel. There is a strong demand for seed ""Yi'rass Seed.—There has been an increased deinaud for all classes of seeds. Cockstoot is inquired for, holders are now asking *M per lb. There are free buyers at 7d per lb. Flour.—We cannot quote over LIO Ids per ton for guaranteed brands. Potatoes.—The demand for potatoes tor seed purposes has fairly opened. The ten lots of rive tons each we submitted to-day were werly competed for. The whole were sold at L'> 7s «d L»h- ton. except one hve-t.m lot, which fetched f-*> ">s per ton : the buyers tindins: bags m all cases. >*« Qa ve very large inquiries for potatoes for seed purposes : we expect that much higher rates will rule. The supply is very limited. Cheese and Butter.—Cheese m good condition is of free sale at 54d per lb. Butter is saleable at t)d to lOd per ib ; medium, 3d to !M per lb.
