OTEPOPO ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of this Board was held on Friday, 2(>th hist. Present— Messrs. Anderson (Chairman), Falconer, M'Donald, A. Marshall, Newiands, Darrooh, G. Marshall, Mitchell, and Diehl. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.
The following correspondence was read :
A circular from the Akaroa rtoad Board /•>■ the endowment of Road Boards by the Government, —The Clerk was directed to acknowledge its receipt, and to write m the members for the district, asking them to support any nie'isur-> that mig! t !:;■' brought before Parliament having this object in view. From Mr. J. T. Donaldson, with reference to the delay in executing the Breakneck Contract. —The Clerk tyas directed to reply that cite delay was qot occasioned by any action of the Board, FroiiiTj. Smith, re the widening of the formation in Bnrgh-stret-t. —On the motion ■>f Mr. M'Donald, seconded by Mr. A. Marshall, the Engineer was requested to report on the matter, and upon Cromartyativot, at next meeting.
From the County Council, asking what proportion of tht, cost 01 the Aliday Bay Greek bridge, the Board would be wills' silt to contribute.
On the motion of Mr. '.Falconer, seconded by Mr. Mitchell, the Clerk was instructed to reply that the Board is not in a position financially to contribute any tiling, but that no obstacle would be put in the. way of the Council carrying out the work. Mr. "Nowlands tendered his resignation as a iii[.-mher of the Board, which was accept' 1 '!. Mr. falconer moved that Mr. "Robert Thompson be appointed for ihe remainder of tfye year. Seconded bv Mr. M'Donald. Mr. Darroch moved, as an amendment, that Mr. George Ledingham he elected. Seconded by Mr. Davidson. • On being put to the meeting, two voted for Mr. Ledingham, and six for Mr. Thompson, who was declared duly elected. A letter was read from Mr. R. Morrison, giving notice of his intention to fence section 14, block 3The Clerk was instructed to ascertain on what terms he would sell the corner of said section cut oft' by the deviation of the Allday Road. The Clerk was instructed to give notice that the Board will prosecute any one allowing gorae to grow on the district j
ruads so as to impede traffic ; thirty days from this date being allowed for removal. Several accounts were passed for pay--ment, after which the Board adjourned.
