DIRECT AUSTRALIAN NEWS (SPECIAL TO THE PRESS AOESCT.)

Melbourne, July 9. Parliament was opened to-day. The Governor's speech promises constitutional reform, railway extension, Bills to purchase the Hobson's Bay Railway, Loan Bills, railway, water, and public works. The discussion on the address will take place in the Council to-morrow. In the Assembly, Professor Pearson made a conciliatory speech in moving the reply to the address, which was seconded by Mr. Mas >u. The debate was adjourned until to-morrow.
