KAKANUI ROAD BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting of this TJoard was held in the offices, Tyne-street, this forenoon. Present—Messrs. Gilchrist (in the chair), Booth, Elder, Allan, M'Donald, Manning, Morton, and Oliver (Engineer).
The minutes of last meeting having been read and confirmed, and the outward correspondence read and approved, the following inward correspondence was dealt with '. — 1. From Messrs. Lees and Moore, declining to unlock gates on the road line leading towards Bush' Reserve, on Cape Wanbrow, until repaid money expended by their firm on this road.—lt was resolved that Messrs. Lees and Moore be required to have the lock removed within fourteen days. 2. From the Akaroa Road Board, with reference to the advisability of combined action being taken by the various Road Boards towards securing an endowment of waste land, as is done in the case of Boroughs.—The Clerk was directed to communicate with the members for the district, asking that they support any measure introduced into the Assembly nest session having for its object the endowment of Road Boards. The Engineer's report having been read, tenders for contract No. 40 were opened, and that of Messrs. Robertson and Biggar, at LSOO 18s 4d, was accepted, The Engineer was instructed to report on the state of the bridge at Kakanui mouthV-and also on road-line on the flat at Mr) Elder's. A' number of accounts having been passed for payment, and the usual compliment passed to the chair, the Board adjourned;
