[from our om correspondent.] DUNEDIN. June 5. At the meeting of tlie Waste Lands Board held to-day, a telegram was read from the Under Secretary for Crown Lands, enquiring whether the Board was of opinion that the granting of the Oamaru endowment would be detrimental to the setttement or the mining interests. Mr. Maitland said that, on the latter .point, the Board would be guided by the Wardens. In giving his opinion as to its fitness for settlement, he said that the land is good, though a little rough. The Board expressed its opinion that the land is suitable for settlement, and would sell readily in 000-acre blocks, at L 3 per acre.
