TIIE HOUSEHOLD FURNITURE All new. WAIMOTU HERD OF SHORTHORNS. This herd sprung from cows purchased at Awamoa, 1575-7(>. The Hon. M. Holmes sclented the original herd at a sale held by Messrs. Morton Brothers find Leach, of Monnt Derrimut, Victoria, sth November, IS'J7. The selections of the Hon. M. Holmes at the above sale comprised the very best animals of the Jessamine, April Flower, and Farewell tribes ; among them was the celebrated Cow Jessamine 9th, that took no less than eleven First Prizes in Victoria. Her own sister Jessamine Is>th, is dam of Mr. Craig's famous red Cow; Ofcago Jessamine 2nd. It would take too much space to mention prizes awarded to the Waimotu Herd at various shows ; sullice it to say that the Shorthorn Cup lias been won two years in succession by Mr. Craig. The bulls used in the herd wore Prince KiHerby (imported by the Hop. Al". flies (bred by G. M. Bell, Esq., Waimea), and Waimotu Prhiee (out of Otago Jessamine 2nd by Prince Killerby).
