The natives agreed io sell their rights in the Lake to the Government, who have the right in the meantime to go on with the drainage work. They also agreed that the Te Ore Ore road should be made, and an engineer will be sent up by the Government to report on the best route. The natives also expressed their willingness to allow a bridge to be erected over the Ruamabunga river, which will abut on the land comprised in the Hiirunui settlement, and through which a road is to be made.
