At four o'clock this morning the new railway bridge; here was tested by Mr. Carruthers, Engineer-in-Ohief, accompanied by Mr. Blair, District Engineer, and Messrs, and Kerle, Assistant Engineers. Three locomotives and six loaded co;i 1 trucks were used, the height being 110 tons. Eacli span was tested carefully. The deilection was from threeeighths to three-quarters of an inch, there being no permanent set, as when the load passed over the bridge sprung back to Unoriginal level. After each span had been tested the train was run across at ten miles an hour, when the deflection was only three-eighths of an inch-.
