TO THE EDITOK OF THE EVENING MAIL. Sib, —As an attendant at the Presbyterian Church on Sunday morning last, I was rather surprised at the intimation given, -viz., " That, owing to the absence of Mr. Todd, the Communion would be postponed, and the usual fast day dispensed with." Now, Sir, I consider this a gross injustice to those who are accustomed to look upon it as a holiday. Had we not depended on the fast day some other arrangements could have been made. But, quoting from a popular author, perhaps it was only a cover for hidden fire on the part of some one who made the alteration, a means whereby they might retain behind their counters those who otherwise .would have been at liberty to enjoy themselves as best they please. But I suppose they apply to us the sentiment of Diogenes when he said, there were many things in the world that he had no need of.—l am, &c., Cosmopolitan.
