The Turkish deserters from Plevna are numerous. There is a report that the garrison is short of provisions and ammunition.

The fate of Osman Pasha's army excites great uneasiness at Constantinople. November 2.

The Russians are advancing on Sop:ria, and t >ok Naborigi, beyond Seliche. Chefket Pasha, with 12 battalions of infantry, fled, and was pursued by the Russian cavalry.

It is reported at Bucharest that Chefket Pasha was repulsed with great loss in an attempt to retake Seliche. The Russian head-quarters have been removed. to Bogol, midway between Pkvna and Lovatz.

Eight thousand Turkish troops (the best regulars left in the capital) have been sent to the front. A qiiaxter of a million Turks have been summoned to the ranks. . .

A telegram from Berlin reported that Turkey had made Becret proposals for peace to the Great Powers, with important concessions to Russia, Roumania, and Montenegro, but it is improbable that they will be accepted at the present juncture. The Qolos asserts that any condition of peace must include the Dardanelles. November 12.

Turkish reconnaissances 011 the Lom, made on November 10, showed that a large portion of the Czarewitch's army was being withdrawn to aid in the investment of Plevna.

The Russians announce the capture of Nadla, near Orchanie, on the 9th, with several thousand waggons containing provisions.

A letter from a correspondent who entered Plevna with the iast Turkis.i convoy, reports provisions at famine prices. The Times says that the failure to capture Et'Zjroum on Friday, the 9th inst., bp a coup de main, may be regarded as making it secure for the winter.

Ahmet Pasha is leaving Bosnia for Orohanie with 49 battalions of infantry and a battery of Krupp guns.
