STALLIONS pO STAND THIS SEASON IN THE I OAMARU DISTRICT, AND AT MR. PATER SO VS PtiIVATE RESIDhNCK, <>AAJAI:U, The Fashionably bred and very Superior Thoroughbred Ho.se P K R T 0 B E, Bred by 11. Phillips, Esq., Victoria, inISG9. By Panic (imported) out of Hester Grazebrook, by the Prem er (imported), out of Miss Napier, by Delapre (imported), out of Mrs. Roberts, by YVauderer (imported); Panic, by Alarm, out of Queen ol Beauty, by Melbourne out of Birthday, by lautaloou out of Hou-'iia, by Camel, &c, &c. I'jsr--I'oßk is a dark bay horse, 7 years old, standing 15 bands 3 inches high, with great iei gth, substance, and qualify, and was one of the fastest horses tiiat ever raced in Victoria. The fact that he has got Pantaloon blood in his veins is a great recommendation, for it is questionable if better flows in any animal's; the very best runners and the grandest specimens of the thoroughbred are descended irom Pantaloon, whose blood cannot be excelled. The value of P.uitaloon blood is undeniable, having furni.-hed so many proofs, not ahneas to speed and staying, but also as a running strain, for although some others occasionally produce one or two first-cla s animals, still, few can compete with that in question as to number. For high breeding, good true racing action, honesty and gameiiess, with speed of remarkable briiliancy, Pkrtobk has no equal, and Thoroughbred Mares put to him should breed good racehorses. PERTOBE, by •'Augur," writing in the Australasian of the 4th of August last, says : "Several more thoroughbred "ires have been advertised, and, if placed according to mer t, Panic certainly deserves the premier position, for there can be n<> disputing that iie is the most n.-eful of all the sires in austral ia; and being to, the question - he not the most valuable ? He may not have pi educed such brilliant horses as tome of our crack tires, but for the produeti n of every de&crij tion, he has no >q al. Nmiblefoor., Strop, Melbourne, Adelaide, and others, have placed inai>y a good flat race to h;s credit; Prodigious, Lone Hand. Saucepan, Quicksilver, ;.nd mauy others, have shown us what his de.-eendants are capable of over a country ; and f> r gineial purposes they are unsurpassed, as they inherit ail their sire's soundness of wind and limb. Mr. '1 ait has oiten told me that the best con.-tiuttioned tioise he ever owned was Melbourne ; and this being one of the chief character sties of Panic's stock, he is will worthy of liberal patronage from bree.ieis."
