Mr. Larnacli re-'pened the debate on the no-confidence motion this afternoon in a c'ear and incisive speech, giving a plain, straightforward financial s atement, which showed the total liabilities of tho Colony to be L24,200,0C0. 'there was a deficiency in the .Provincial liabilities of I,2()U.OiJU. This would necessitate a lo:m of L.5,00 >,UOO. On Saturday last, the total amount in the Treasury was LG40,3!3. of this sum a reiund was due on the Land Fund to Cauteibury, amounting to L 525.500, and to Otago L 61,120. 'I here was also due to the Marlborough and Nel.-on Trust Fund LG7,313. The total liabilities, when j aid, would leave the public account indebted L! 2,672 13s. 2d. '1 his statement, astounded the House.
