(from the press agency.) WELLINGTON. October 29. Last night, Bishop Redwood delivered a charity sermon at St. Mary's, in aid of the Indian Famine Relief Fund. He said that " Fellow-creatures in distress should be helped, irrespective of colour or creed or distance away." LSO was collected at the conclusion. A similar sermon was preached at the other Catholic church, and L4O was collected. The Chamber of Commerce has issued a circular to employers of labour in town, inviting their co-operation in regard to the Australian Juvenile Industrial Exhibition, by giving prizes for the young people to compete for, such as ornamental articles, medals, or cash.

CHRISTOHURCEL October 29. The Racecourse privileges for the Metropolitan Meeting were sold to-day for L4Ol. * This is a few pounds less than last year, but there are only three publicans' booths against five last year. Trump Card is a hot favourite at evens for the Derby, and Mata for C.J.C. Handicap at 5 t" 1 ; Mata and Oberon are about equal favourites for the Cup at sto 1. Betting very quiet. The weather is again unusually dry, with hot winds, Rain is much required for the crops. Contributions to the Famine Fund are still coming in freely. Toe children at East CIII istchurcli District School contributed L 35 to the fund. NAPIER. October 29. The Rev. Charles Clarke's lectures are drawing large houses. He preached in the Weslevan Church, last night, in aid of the Famine Fund to a crowded congregation. The collection amounted to over L 53.
