Burns, M.H.R., to at once support the present Government, or resign- his position. The Mayor, R. H. Leary, to-day resigned, because the officials of the Council intimated to him that it was not his duty to interfere with them in departmental work, unless ordered by the Council to do so. He took the opposite view of the matter, and as the Council did not support him in it, resigned. The resignation fine of LSO was remitted.
