London, October 17. There has been a great Russian victory in Asia. The column of General Dazaraff out-flankt-d the Turks, and General Heima attacked and carried Mount Arolias, cutting Mukhtar Pasha's army in two. Mukhtar retreated towards Kars, but was pursued and routed, losing an enormous number in killed and a thousand prisoners, including seven Pasl as. Three Turkish divisions were surrounded, and surrendered with thirty guns, and immense quantities of war material. The Russian losses are not large. The positions' at Plevna and Shipka Pass are unchanged.
(UEUTER's TELEGRAMS, PER PRESS AGENCY.) London, October 14. Newspaper correspondents have been ordered to leave the Russian position at Ple\na. Chefket Pasha has entered Plevna with further reinforcements. General Gonrka, with the Imperial Guards has been sent to the Turkish rear. The road between' Plevna and Orkhanei is open. It is reported that 15,000 Roumanians have died of disease during the last twenty days. Fighting has been renewed at Armenia. The Turks, while concentrating at Alauz.idagah, were hotly attacked by the Russians. After a five hours' battle darkness stopped the fighting. October 15. The Russians arc bombarding Sulina. The population has fled. Chefket Pasha defeated a number of fornge'-s. A Russian Official despatch states that Mukhtar Pas'ia attacked the Russian positions at Yokgnie, and was repulsed after severe fighting. October IG. A Russian official says General Goiirka had a complete victory over at Aladaziidagah. He took many prisoners and guns. A Turkish official despatch states that there was a great battle on the 11th, and that the Russians retreatid. A Russian official d spatch states that the Russians captured the heights of Orlock, compelling the diftndeis to retr.iit upon Kars. They attacked Mukhtar and carried Mount Arolias, cutting the Turkish army in two. When retreating, the Turks were defeated with enormous loss. The other part of Mukhtii's army was surrounded, and surrendered, wirh a loss of Seven pashas, guns, and war material. Mukhtar fled from Kars. October 17. Mukhtar, for the most part confirms this report. A bridge at Nicopolis was carried away by a rising of the Danube.
