OAMARU HOSPITAL.

* The monthly meeting of the Committee took place last night at the Stei-Lt.-iry's office. There were present—Messrs. J. Booth (President), F. H. Townsend, James Paterson, T. H. Brown, J. Mainland, and W. M'lntosh. MINUTES. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. RESIGNATION OF THE COLLECTOR. A letter was read from Mr. M. Newsham forwarding his resignation as collector in consequence of his being about to leave the town early next month. It was resolved, " That the Committee accept Mr. Newsham's resignation, and that the thanks of the Committee be tendered to him for the manner in which he has discharged his duties during his term of office." It was decided that the Secretary should advertise for a collector ; applications to be sent in on or before the sth November ; and that a special meeting be called for that day to appoint a collector. GRASS ON HOSPITAL GROUNDS. It was resolved to request Mr. IST. Fleming tp sell by auction the privilege of cutting *nd removing the grass on the Hospital grounds for the next six months. REPORT OF VISITING COMMITTEE. The following report was read and adopted, and the recommendations were ordered to be given effect to : Gentlemen, Your Committee, having visited the Hospital this day, beg to inform you that there are at present 12 patients—--11 male and 1 female—who are perfctly satisfied with the treatment and attention they receive. We would recommend that a man be engaged to clean the hedge round the grounds. The Warder having applied to your Committee for an amount towards his travelling expenses from Dunedin to Oamaru, we would recommend that he receive the sum of five pounds sterling, as we are of opinion that there is considerable improvement in the manner in which the.house and grounds are now kept.
