Hunter, the city number, to know why eff ct had not been given to a petition for Mr. Mackay's release. Mr. Sheehan was then interviewed. He explained that it wis necessary to obtain the depositions of the case and unbuilt them to the Solicitor-General for his opinion, after which the Governor would be advised as to the course to pursue, and his decision announced in the House at i 7.30 to-night. The deputation stated, tiat a strong feeling existed outside ; and that, .if necessary, four thousand signatures could have been obtained. Dissatisfaction was apparent when it was made known that the Governor and his Aide-de-Camp had waited until 11 o'clock last night for the petition to be presented, which was not done.
