'J'he following resolutions were carried unanimously : Moved by the Eev. Mr. Gifford, and secoi did by Mr. J. T. Evans, •' That this meeting having learned of the distress and suffering of millions of the population of British India, by leason of the pievaleic of famine over the wide areas of thac country, resolves that an effort be made in this town ar-d di tri-t to assist in the measu e.i of relief in which other communities in the Empire are so heartily joining."
