STALLIONS IO STAND THIS SEASON IN THE OAMARU DISTRICT, AND AT ME. PATERSOVS PRIVATE EESIDKNCK, <»AMAIiU, The Fashionably bred and very Superior Thoroughbred Horse P K R T 0 B E, Bred by H. Phillips, Esq., Victoria, in 1869. By Panic (imported) out of Hester Grazebrook, by the Prem er (in-ported), out of Miss Napier, by Delapre (imported), out of Mrs. Roberts, by Wanderer (imported); Panic, by Alarm, out of Queen of Beauty, by Melbourne out of lirthday, by Pantaloon out of Honoiia, by Camel, &c, &c. Pkrthek is a dak bay horse, 7 years old, standing 15 hands 3 inches high, with great length, substance, and quality, and was one of the fastest horses that ever raced in Victoria. The fact that he has got Pantaloon blood in his veins is a great recommendation, for it is questionable if better flows in any animal's; the very best runners and the grandest specimens of the thoroughbred are descended uom Pantaloon, -whose blood cannot be excelled. The value of P..nralooublood is undeniabb-, having furni-hed so many proofs, not ahne as to speed and staying, but also as a running strain, for although some others occasionally produce one or two first-cla s auinia's, still, few can compete with that in question as to number. For high breeding, good true racing action, honesty and gam-ness, -with sueed of remarkable biiiliaiicy, Pj-.rtobk ha* no equal, and Thoroughbred Mares put to hiai should breed good racehorses. PERTOEE.'by cu >— a, cs > s," re a -> ;3 ~- 22 C ''Augur," writing in the Australasian of the 4th of August last, says : " Several more thoroughbred have been advertised, and, if placed according to mer.t, Panic certainly deserves the premier position, tor there can be no disputing that lie is the most "seful of all the sires in Australia ; and being to, the question arises, Is he not the most valuable ? He may not have produced such brilliant horses a< some of our crack sires, but for the producti-n of every description, he has no tq- al. Niml.lefooP, Stiop, Melbourne, Adelaide, and others, have placed many a good flat race to h.s credit; Prodigious, Lone Hand, Saucepan, Quicksilver, ;.n-l many others, have shown us what his descendants are capable of over a country ; and for genet al purposes they are unsurpassed, as they inherit all their sire's soundness of wind and limb- Mr, 'i'ait has oiten told me that the best constitutioned horse he ever owned was Melbourne ; and this being one of the chief characteristics of Panic's stock, he is well worthy of liberal patronage from breeders."
