I STALLIONS TO STAND THIS SEASON IN THE OAMAEU DiSTEICT, AND AT ME. PATEESOJS'S PRIVATE EESIDENCK, OAMAIiU, The Fashionably-bred and very Superior Q'horoughbred Horse P K K T O B E, Bred by H. Phillips, Esq., Victoria, in 1869. ' By Panic (imported) out of Hester Grazebrook, by the Prem.er (imported), out of Miss Napier, by Delapre (imported), out of o Mrs. Boberts, by Wanderer (imported); y Panic, by Alarm, out of Queen of Beauty, by Melbourne out of .Birthday, by Pantaloon out of Honoria, by Camel, &c, &c. Perv> ToBK is a dask bay Ijorse, 7 years old, standing 15 bauds 3 inches high, with great lei'gth, substance, and qualify, and was one 3 of the fastest horses that ever raped in Vicj toria. The fact that he has got Pantaloon blood in his veins is a great recommendation, f for it is questionable if better flows in any animal's; the very best runners and the grandest specimens of the thoroughbred are descended rrom Pantaloon, whose blood cannot be excelled. The value of Pantaloon blood is undeniable, having furnished so many proofs, not alone as to speed and stay- » ing, but also as a running strain, for although some others occasionally produce one i or two first-cla-s animals, still, few can compete with that in question as to number. For high breeding, good true racing action, honesty and ganivoiess, with speed ol remarkable brilliancy, Pkktobk has no equal, and Thoroughbred Mares put to him should breed good racehorses. PERTOBE, by
P crCB K- T C{C " Augur," writing in the Australasian of the 4th of August last, says : " Several more thoroughbred "ires have been advertised, and, if placed according to mer.t, Panic certainly deserves the premier position, for there can be no disputing that he is the most useful of all the sires in Australia ; and being to, the question "arises, Is he not the most valuable ? He may not have produced such brilliant horses as some of our crack sires, but for the production of every description/ he has no icpial. Nimblefooc, Strop, Meiboixrne, Adelaide, and others, have placed many a good flat race to his credit j Prodigious, Lone Hand, Saucepan, Quicksilver, and many others, have shown us what his descendants are capable of over a country ; and fur general purposes they are unsurpassed, as they inherit all their sire's soundness of wind and limb. Mr, Tait has oiten told me that the best constitutioned horse he ever owned was Melbourne ; and this being one of the chief characteristics of Panic's stock, he is well worthy of liberal patronage from "breeders."
