Notice of the allotment of shares in the Union Insurance Company were issued this morning. The allotment appears to have been made with a veiy careful regard to the liusness portion of the applicants. Many clerks and others avlio hold little or no prope ty, but applied for large numbers o' shares, anpa ently for speculative purposes, received no shares at all.
A letter has I ecu published this morning from the master of the Loburn school, emphatically denying tin alleyed Hogging oi Cah"lic* child ien "for rinsing to read the Pr. -ti'Stunt Bib'c. WELLINGTON. September 25. Dr. Lemon lias just received a fervice telegram from ]'atavia stating that the cable is now (yesterday) clear of traffic. The Resident Magistrate has given judgment in a disputed ca-e arising under the Marriage Act, ISSB. The plaintiff app ied for a marriage license, and wished to give 14 days' notice, which would enable him to obtain a license for 5s , but being eligible to take out an immediate license,-the Registrar demanded a Ice of "20s.
