NORTHERN AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.

A general meeting of the Committee was held this afternoon in the Secretary's office. Present—Messrs. W. J. Steward (chair), Bee, M'Leiman, Little, Mitchell, Ronayne, Orr, Booth. Dunlop, Aikenhead, Gillespie, W. Meek, Honour, and Hedley. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, and the outward and inward, correspondence was read. The Secretary was instructed to reply Ito a letter from the Timaru Association, 'intimating the names of gentlemen nominated to be Judges at the Show, and to state the acceptance of the same. An application from the Taieri Society for Judges to act at their Show on the 22nd November was considered, when the following gentlemen were appointed : Shorthorn cattle, Mr. James Spence, Awa.noa ; Ayrshire cattle, Mr. John M'Farlane, Oamaru ; draught horses, Mr. Win. Gillespie, Oamaru ; thoroughbreds and hacks, Mr. Walter Swanson, Oamaru ; sheep and swine, Mr. Henry Little, 'Ngapara. After discussion, it was arranged that rule 7 be not enforced. Mr. Walter Swanson was elected a member of Committee.

A discussion tonic place relative to some correspondence with the Timaru Society as to the offering of a combined prize of LSO for a gorse-cutting machine, when it | was resolved that the Secretary write to the Secretary of the Timaru Association, and state that, as the Canterbury Association has withdrawn from the original proposal, and as the Committee of this Asscoiation have already offered a prize in their published programme for. such a machine, they cannot see their 1 way to join Timaru. for this year. the accounts presented were passed for payment, subject to the approval of the finance Committee. It was resolved that the walking show of entires, to be held on the first Friday in October, be advertised a fortnight previously. A vote of thanks to the Chairman closed the meeting.
