William Robinson and ■)•> :.u Dixon were charged with, at an early hour this morning, wilfully and 'mal : c!oii.s!y breaking a pane of glass in i\.o window of Robert Keenan's boarding-house, of the value of 7s. Od. The prisoner Robinson pleaded ignorance of the matter, while Dixon denied the charge, saying that he was endeavouring to get the other prisoner to go home. The evidence of Constable Donovan was taken, to the effect that he saw the prisoner Robinson, who was drunk, put his hand through the window, and that, on being brought to the lock-up. the prisoner's wrist was so severely cut that it was found necessary to get a doctor to dress the wound. Robert Keenan gave evidence as to the arrest of the prisoners, and stated that the value of the window was 7s. CI. The charge against the prisoner Dixon was dismissed. ■ The prisoner Robinson was ordered to pay the amount of the damage done, 7s. Gd., his Worship remarking that tiie accused had suffered pretty severely for his conduct by the severe wound he had received. XAB.CENY as bailee. Robert Patrick (on warrant) was charged with having stolen a violin, the property of John Clegg, on the 17th August. On the application of the police, the case was remanded until Monday next.
