MR. ORMOND'S ASSERTIONS REFUTED.

Russtll and Whitaker, ami you pro misud us letters of introduction to tin natives, and advisrd us to go up and sec the country. Cox and I accordingly did so, and afterwards H. Russell. Jn tin end, it was decided the prospects wer, not satisfactory, and wo abandoned tlij project. At no time was it supposed o intended thai you should bo a ) artnerl and 1 think all'of us understood that, yon only interest in the matter was your do sire to induce settlement in the interior as the natives seemed disposed to l>. friendly, and as you believed that in tot course with Europeans would have a eiloet upon them.—Believe me, your, very truly, "G.
