Samson, Captain Jones, arrived from Dunedin at 6-30 this morning, with 20 t-ns cargo and 12 passengers. She leaves again for Dunedin at the usual hour tonight. The barque Woodbine. Captain M Laren; arrived from Newcastle, N.S.W., this afternoon with a cargo of cwl consigned to Mr H. Aitken. Captain M'Laren r ports having fallen in with the barque Tasso, bound for this port, and they kept company for a couple of days, and came round Cape Campbell together, where the lasso was lost schooner Herald, Cai tail Mackay, sailed for Wellington this morning with a fu 1 cargo of breadstuffs shipped by Mr G. fcumpter. Thes.s. Waitakiis due here from Uunedin at 1 p.m. to-morrow. ■♦ .' ARRIVAL OF THE BUIGANTINE EM>EAVOUK. The brigantine Endeavour, Captain Jas. Dick arrived from Greymouth at 7 a.m. this 'morning, after a very tempestuous passage, the following particulars of which we cull from her log -.—Left Greymouth on 25th ult., and experienced moderate weather until off the Kaikouras, on Saturday, fceptember 1, when a heavy S W. gsile was encountered, which on Sunday morning had increased to a perfect hurucane, with a mountainous sea running. Kverythmg moveable was washed off the deck. At / am a sea anchor was cast overboard with a view to keeping h r head to the sea, which eased her considerably. At 9a m. the parted, and the ship was hove down to her hatches, and things began to look pretty dark for the captain and crew of the Endeavour Part of tie starboard bulwarks weie now cut away to keep the ship from foundering, as she was labouring very heavily. Ihe hurricane continued with unabated fu:y until 7 p-m , when the weath. r broke and the sea gradually went down. Pass' d Akaroa on the 4th. with a light S.W. wind, and arrived as above. The Endeavour bungs 102 tons coal, consigned to her owners, Messrs. J. and T. Meek.
