August 27. Alexander Wylie, an ex-policeman, was to-day adjudged guilty of having in his possession an illicit still. Sentence was deferred. Mr. W. D. Meares, who leaves to-mor-row for Christchurch, to assume the position of Manager of the Union Insurance Company, was this evening presented with a silver service by the Dunedin Cricket Club.
