(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) e DUNEDIN. August 23. It is reported that Mr. Norrie has resigned the rectorship of the High School owing to a disagreement witli the Education Board. Petitions in favour of keeping the Museum open on Sundays are being signed. Mr. George Jones pi-oceeded to Wellington to-day. The Guardian advises the starting of subscription lists to assist him in carrying out the matter to a definite issue. Mr. Clayton, Colonial Architect, died to-day. There was another scene in the Harbour Board yesterday. A special meeting was convened to consider the following resolution :—" That in order to preserve the Board's trust property threatened by the Bill preferred in Parliament by Mr. Macandrew with the object of repealing the Dunedin Wharves and Quays Act, 1876, the Board authorise and request their Secretary to proceed to Wellington with the view of arranging with the friends of the Board there for the proper protection of the Board's interests." Mr. Ramsay protested against the meeting being held, and walked out of the room, followed by Messrs. Rutherford, Walter, and Pish. The motion was then carried.
