WELLINGTON.
SIR JULIUS YOGEL ON EMIGRATION. August 17. The Government have been informed by the Agent-General that, in consequence of the very stringent instructions he received as to the class of emigrants to be sent to New Zealand this year, he might have some difficulty in making up the specified number of 5000. Strict supervisions are being exercised to ensure that none but the classes ordered should be selected, even if this results in making the total number shipped less than 5000. Great difficulty is experienced in obtaining single women, and as an additional inducement to the free passage, Sir Julius Vogel is offering free passes to the ports of embarkation.
