After the disposal of the usual routine business, the President called upon Mr. M'Pherson, who gave his promised paper on '' Canada." The subject proved interesting, as the writer afforded a considerable amount of information, which evidenced knowledge of the laws and institutions of the Dominion. He also gave a glowing description of the scenery on the great rivers and lakes, which was listened to with marked attention ; and all who were not acquainted with American steamers were astonished at the drawings of the floating palaces peculiar to the American lakes and rivers. Mr. M'Pherson closed his essay by stating that he would give another at a future date, dealing more with the people of Canada. A discussion ensued afterwards, in which considerable knowledge of Canada was displayed. In conclusion, the chairman and members paid Mr. M'Pherson a high compliment for the manner in which ho had treated his subject. A Coursing Club has been formed at Tokoniairiro, of which Mr. F.
