SAN" FRANCISCO MAILS. July 28. At the Hutt, yesterday, Frederick Gillan committed a criminal assault on a little girl, 10 years of age, while she was coming from school. He is committed for trial. At Bull's to-day, Wilkins, a tailor, of Wellington, lias been committed for trial, charged with an indecent assault on his two daughters, aged respectively nine and eleven. About three years ago the same man was convicted of laying poisoned vegetables, with the intention of poisoning his neighbours' cows. The following vessels have arrived in London : —From Melbourne Highflyer and Hapsysford. From Sydney—Eastminster, Wave of Life, and Rajah. From Lyttelton—Canterbury. July 30. The Australia, with the London mails of the 28th June, sailed from San Francisco for Auckland on the 18th July, the contract date. The City of New York, with the New Zealand mails, leaving Auckland on the 14th (query 4th) instant, arrived at San Francisco on the 26th.
