THE ELECTION FOR SEVERN WARD.
TO TIIE Kl'lTOlt OF TUU EVKNINT! MAIL. Sin, —1 have, like most Englishmen, a love of fair pity, and thougn stratagem b,■ fair in love and war, 1 don't advocate it in Municipal elections, and 1 should be sorry to sue a good man kept out of our Council, and a less desirable one put in, by a trick. I therefore ask permission to tell the Severn Warders, through your columns, that although Mr. .Johnston has notified his desire to be defeated, the Arthur of our new Idyl, whose nomineo iie is, is ex 'l ting himself actively in his behalf, and I am told that, as the citizens generally well believe Mr. Liddle's election certain, and will therefore not exert themselves at the poll, a band of trusty Knights of the " Table round " is to appear at the poll just before its close, and Mr. Johnston is to find himself disgusted by a victory where lie prayed for a defeat. —1 am, tfce. Citizen.
