AUCTIONEERS' REPORTS.
Mr. A. H. Maude reports that he sold, at the Railway Boarding House, on Thursday A quantity of 'household furniture, which fetched fair rates. '1 he lease of the property wa3 not disposed of. He also reports that ne held a sale yesterday, on account of Messrs. Lees and Moore, of stock-in-trade, plant, and miscellaneous merchandise. There was a large attendance, the bidding generally being spirited, and fair pr ces were -realised for most of the lots submitted. Messrs. Connell and Clowes held their usual monthly sale of skins, hides, etc., yesterday, at their store, Tyne-street. In addition to the local fellmongers, buyers were present from both Dunedin and Christchurch, and the bidding throughout was good. Butchers' green skins (half-breils) • fetched from 4s to 4s M)d : do do, merinos, • 2s 6d to 3s ; dry skins (half-breds), 3s Gd to 3s lOd ; do do, merino. Is Sd to 2s 2d; hides, 17s Gd ; rough fat, l-?d to 2d per lb. Messrs. Fleming and Hedley report that they held a sale yesterday, at the residence of the late Mrs. Quarrie, of household furniture and effects. There was a large attendance, and very satisfactory prices were obtained. They also report the sale by private contract, to Alfred Carsdaie, Esq., Waireka, near Ckristehureh, of the weJl- » known 3-year old prize enrire, Morley's - Fancy. When shown as a 2-year old, it was prophesied that this grand colt would one day rival the fame of his father, the Muir Lad, and the result bears out this antieipa- . tion, the consideration money for which lie was yesterday exchanged being close on LIOOO. Morley's Fancy is by .Muir Lad out of Miss Paterson, and took third prize in the N. A. and P. Association's Yard as a yearling, and after being shipped from Melbourne, and first prize as a 2-year old, far outstripping all competitors of the same age; also, first prize as a 3-year old, against Mr. McGregor's famous colt by Superior, bred by Miller, of We-t Taieri. His sire. the Muir Larl, is by the L'ride of Scotland, and was bred by "Mr. Mather, of Bonniton M-oor, Scotland, and is the Champion horse of the Southern Hemisphere. He is owned, at present, by Mr. Fi&her, of Adelaide. TIMARU. This morning's Tinvmi Herald reports that wheat has advanced to 7s since its last report, but that this is the only alte.ation to note in graiu prices.
