BRITISH SQUADRON TO ENTER DARDANELLES. MORE ATROCITTIES. Bombay, July 17, 2.40. It is reported that Laj'ard is negotia - ting for the entry of the British squadron into the Dardanelles. Great atrocities have been committed by the Cossacks and Christians against the Mahomedans. The Russians still hold Ardahan. A Russian official despatch states that Ferquaksvi, after relieving Bayazid, retired to Gunvue (query Gounieh). A Turkish official despatch states that after retiring the fighting was resumed with a heavy loss to the Russians.

Wellington, July 23. The following telegram has been received from the Agent-General : London, July 18.

The Russians have captured Nicopolis, with a slight loss. Two Pashas, 6000 prisoners, and 40 guns taken. They continue crossing the Danube, and have passed the principal pass of the Balkans. The Russian headquarters are at Tirnova. They command the bridges on one side, and the Balkans on the other.

The Grand Duchess attended the Russian wounded at Alexandropol.

The Turks have fallen back from the line of Jasca bo the line of the town. The Czarewitch. is in command. Important results are expected at Rustchuk.
