Wellington, July 19. After the delivery of the Governor's speech, Dr. Pollen, in the Legislative Council, gave notice to move for leave to introduce the following Bills : —To provide for the establishment and maintenance of the Armed Constabulary Force ; to consolidate and amend the laws relating to Friendly and other Societies. In the House of Representatives, the following new members were sworn in : Messrs. Fox (Wangnnui), Sutton (Napier), Gisborne (Totara), Beet-ham (Wairarapa), and Wallis (Auckland City West). Mr. Fox was introduced by the Premier and Mr. Richardson. A number of petitions were presented, papers laid on the table, and notices of motion given. Mr. Beetham gave notice to move the address in reply. Mr. Gisborne gave notice to move for all correspondence relating to the sale of the steamer Luna. Mr. Reid gave notice to move for leave to introduce Bills to amend the gold-fields legislation, for the eradication of scab in sheep, and to regulate the management of public pounds. Mr. Bowen will introduce a Bill relating to education. Mr. Atkinson will, at next sitting day, introduce a Bill dealing with crossed cheques. Both Houses adjourned till the following day at 2.00. A few slight alterations have been made in the Chamber since last session. The Ministry is moved more into the Chamber, and several hollow pillars (apparently Tobin's ventilators) are scattered through fcho Chamber. There was a very large attendance of members of the House of Representatives.
