OAMARU HOSPITAL COMMITTEE.

The reguhir monthly meeting of the above Committee was held last evening at the office of the Secretary. There were present—Messrs. Booth, President (in the chair), Brown, Lemon, Steward, Robertson, M'lntosh, Flett, Mainland, Headland, Paterson, Townsend, Morris, and Church (Secretary). Dr. Garland was also present. MINUTES. The minutes of the last monthly meetting, and of two special and one emergency meeting, were read and conlirmod. NO COLLECTION. A letter was read from the Rev. James Baird, Presbyterian Minister, Hampden, intimating that the Managing Committee of the Presbyterian Church, Hampden, could not see their way to fixing a Sunday on which to hold a collection on behalf of the funds of the Hospital. STAR OF HOPE LODGE CONCEIIT. A letter was read from the Secretary to the Star of Hope Lodge, intimating that the nett proceeds of the late concert, inven by that Lodge in aid of the funds of the Hospital, was LlO 13s. On the motion of Mr. Hs.ujlaxd, seconded by Mr. Flett, it was resolved, " That the Secretary be requested to acknowledge the l-LCeipt of the very handsome sum from the Star of Hope Lodge." HOUSE COMMITTEE'S REPORT. The report of the House Committee was then read, audit was resolved, " That the report be adopted, and that the House Committee be empowered J;o have the necessary works recommended therein carried out." ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of L 72 15s. 2d. were passed for payment. CHURCH COLLECTIONS. A letter was read from Mr. Thornton, enclosing a cheque for LlO 15s. 9d., as proceeds of collection in St. Luke's Church on the 3rd June. On the morion of Mr. Steward, seconded by Mr. Brown, it was resolved, " That the Secretary write expressing the thanks of the Committee to Mr. Falconer (Treasurer of St. Paul's) and Mr. Thornton (Treasurer of St. Luke's), for the amount of the collections in aid of the Hospital funds ; and that in future the Secretary be directed to send a letter of thanks in addition to the usual acknowledgment for all special donations and collections." THE CORKONIANS' ENTERTAINMENT. The Chairman stated that he was unable to state positively the amount derived from the entertainments given by the Calcined Corkonians in aid of the funds of the institution, but lie believed between L 55 and LOO would be obtained for the Hospital. On the motion of Mr. Steward, seconded by Mr. Brown, it was resolved, "That the thanks of the Committee, of the Oamaru Hospital are due to the Calcined Corkonians for the material assistance rendered to the Hospital through their efforts, and that the Secretary forward a copy of this resolution to the Secretary of the troupe."

MEDICAL SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT. The Medical Superintendent (Dr. Garland) reported that during the quarter ending 30th June, 20 patients had been treated in the Hospital. Of this number 14 had been dismissed as cured and relieved, four remained in the Hospital, and two had died. APPOINTMENT OF WARDER AND MATRON. Eleven applications were received from married couples for the position of Warder and Matron of the Hospital. After carefully considering the matter, Mi - , and Mrs. James Thompson, of Dunedin, were appointed. It was resolved, " That the Secretary telegraph to Mr. Thompson, asking what will be the earliest date on which he can commence his duties in Oamaru." TENDERS FOR SUPPLIES. It was resolved, " That tenders for Hospital supplies be called for, for a period of six months." RESIGNATION. Mr. Flett tendered his resignation as a member of the Committee, in consequence of his being about to leave the Colony. It was resolved, " Tnat the resignation be accepted, with an expression of the Committee's regret at the loss of his services." Mr. James Paterson was elected to fill the vacant seat on the Committee, and Mr. Alex. Paterson was appointed a member of the House Committee in the room of Mr. Flett. The meeting then terminated with a vote of thanks to the Chairman.
