Bombay (no date). It is generally reported that an alliance lias been concluded between Servia and Ron mania. It is semi-oflicially stated at St. Petersburgh that the alliance does not affect the relations between Austria and Russia. ❖ DIRECT AUSTRALIAN NEWS. Sydxey, July 12. In the Assembly yesternight, the question of the Pacific Service cropped, up. Mr. Parkes acknowledged the extremely unsatisfactory position in which the Service stood, and thought better arrangements might have been made by the late Government. The present Government found they must either let the Service drop altogether, or adopt the course into which the late Postmaster-General practically forced them. The Government had done all that was possible under the circumstances, but admitted that the present arrangements were not at all satisf actor} 7 .
