<&_ THIS DAY. (Before T. W. I'ahkkk. Ksi(., H.M.) "DRUNK AND DISORDERLY. James Slatterly, charged with being drunk and disorderly, was lined 7s. Patrick Fagan, on a similar charge, was discharged with a caution. STEALING A I'INT-TOT. Andrew M'Kay was charged with having stolen a pint-pot from the Northern Hotel, the property of I huip Blakeslev, and valued at ss. | Sub-Inspector Smith prosecuted, and Mr. O'Meagher appeared for the accused, who pleaded Not guilty. Peter Nelson, a servant at the Northern Hotel, stated that yesterday afternoon the accused came into the bar of the hotel and asked witness for a drink. Witness refused to serve him, as he thought accused had had enough liquor. He then picked up the pint-pot and walked off. Witness afterwards got a policeman, and found the accused with the pot in his hand. In reply to Mr. O'Meagh cr, witness said that when lie refused to give accused any drink, he said if he would not do so he would walk oil' with the pot, In reply to the Bench, Sub-Inspector Smith said the only other witness he had to call was tho apprehending constable. He would not proceed further with the matter. Mr. O'Meagher said the matter was one ■ of folly rather than of felony. The accused had just come down from the country, and had had rather more drink than was good for him. The taking of ■ the pot was merely a lark, and accused had been punished sufliciently by being placed in the dock. The Bench then discharged the accused. CIVIL CASECreese v.
