Bruce was presented by his parishioners with six hundred and fifty sovereigns, as a farewell testimonial. Mr. Bruce has been pastor for a quarter of a century. An influential company has been formed here, to work a copper lode recently discovered at Port Augusta, South Australia, capital, L 30,000, in shares of LI each. Five thousand shares are to be awarded to the discoverers. Mr. Tunny's analysis shows an average yield of copper of 43 per cent. A race between the Pet and the Brothers came off to-day, in the presence of 800 spectators. The Pet, being the longer, gave her opponent one minute start. The Brothers got first under weigh. Coming to the winning-post the Pet fouled a ship in the harbour, but was soon extricated. The Brothers, just beincj the minute of allowed timea-head, tacked, and was in the act of winning, when, approaching the wharf, she suddenly tacked before passing the winning-post. The judges are now considering their decision.
