A branch railway to connect Wellington and Makaraf is spoken of as being projected by a private company. The charge of fraudulent insolvency against Gray, the confectioner, occupied the Court all day, and will be further argued to-morrow. It is thought likely that tlie prisoner will be acquitted. July 5.

The schooner Transit, from Pelorus Sound to Oamaru. put in here this morning in consequence of stress of weather. She will leave when the wind changes.
