POST OFFICE NOTICE.

On and after June 1. Mails will Close For Dunedin and intermediate offices, daily, at 6 a.m. For Pukeuri and Waitaki, daily, at f) a.m. For Waimate, Timaru. Christc-hiirch, and North Island, daily, at 9 a.m. and 2.45 p.m. For Papakaio and Dmitri >r>n T daily, at 2.45 p.m. For Avvamoko, on Tuesday and Thursday at 2.45 p.m. For Maerewhenua, T'pner Ferry, and Oamarania, on Tuesday, tit 2.45 p.m. For Weston and Teaneraki, daily, at 2.30 p.m. For Dunedin and South, per p.s. Samson, on Monday and Thursday, at 5 p.m. ; and per s.s. Waitaki, on Wednesday and Saturday, at 10 a.m. FRED. BICKN'ELL, I'ustmaster. ENGLISH MAIL DATES. The English mails will arrive at and be despatched from Dunedin as under:—

Note.—The arrival or departure at or from Oamaru will, of course, be a day after in the former case, and a day before in the latter.

Under the healing of " >ky Blue,"' the Soitth Canterbury Times has the following : j "Of late the police in Timaru have made a j raid upon eight milk vendors, taking a j sample from each, fur the purpose of having ■ them tested by Professor Bickerton. We have a suspicion that I there is room for the interference of the I police in Oamaru in reference to this matter.-!
