IMPORTANT LICENSING DECISION. VICE-REGAL MOVEMENTS. THE SUEZ MAIL STEAMSHIP THE BANGALORE. June 19. It is stated that a compromise has been effected with. Kirchener and Slowman, who claimed compensation for nonfulfilment of the contract made by the late Dr. Featherston with those gentlemen for the introduction into New Zealand of 4000 German immigrants. The Colony has to pay Kirchener LSOO and Slowman L3OOO (exclusive of the passage money for the Fitz-Reuter immigrants) in full of all demands. Slowman's claim was L 20,000. At the adjourned meeting of the Licensing Bench to-day, it was decided, on a question asked by Mr. Olliver, acting for the local Licensed Victuallers' Association, that no extra fee was required where an hotel had more than one bar. Arrived: Wennington, barque, from London, 116- days out. She brings 38 Government immigrants and a few saloon passengers. Experienced rough weather on the voyage, and lost a valuable entire horse during a gale. * June 20. Lord Normanby leaves here for Nelson to-morrow evening in the Hinemoa.
