NOTICE TO KEKPERS OF LODGINGHOUSES. NOTICE IS HEIiEBY GIVEN, that the " Common Lodging-Houses Ordinance, 1562," and " Amendment Ordinance, 186' V are NOW IN EOIICK, together with the Kye-Laws passed thereunder, by this Couneil, within the Municipality of Oamaru, the said Bye-Laws having duly received the assent of his Excellency the Governor. All Tenants and Keepers of Common Lodging-liouses, within the Municipality, are hereby required, in accordance with Section G of the "Common Lodging-Houses Ordinance, 1502," to register such house, by delivering, at the Town Clerk's OSlice, on or before the 30th DAY of JUNE, iNST., a Notice in form of Schedule A to the Ordinance, together with a Certificate, signed by six respectable householders, as per Schedule B to the said Ordinance.

The necessary Forms can be obtained at the Town Clerk's Office ; and Notice is Hereby Further Given, that, as provided in Section 20, the Keeper of any Common Lodging-House, or any other persons having or acting in the care and management thereof, who shall omit to cause his House to be Registered, as aforesaid, is liable to a penalty not exceeding Five Pounds (£5), and to a further penalty not exceeding Two Pounds (£2) for every day while the oifencc continues. And it is Hereby Further Notified that the words "Common. Lodging-House " are delined io mean, for the purposes of the Ordinances— "Any House, Tent, or Edifice, in which any number of persons, besides the occupyiug tenant thereof, his or her family, or domestics, ordinarily sleep, paying him or her reward r'or being allowed to do so."
